Entry #115
Los Angeles was productive at least. The weightroom left me with little
variety, however, so I just did bodybuilding exercises. There were no
barbells and the heaviest dumbbells were 50 lbs. I taped two dumbbells
together for each hand for compensation. Also, I went barefoot, like
Arnold.

I think I drove my relatives insane with my obsession for food, but
I was able to pick up appropriate meals at a supermarket near the
hotel. To my luck, there was also a Vitamin Shoppe near it, and I
picked up some protein shakes. I also had my aunt and uncle read my
Arnold magazine. They don't speak english so they couldn't read the
articles, but I could tell they were motivated enough to take up
lifting. I think. Off-topic: I went to Vans skatepark on Tuesday over
there and it was great.

Today I had no method of transportation to the gym; had to make do
with what I had in the backyard, and do a bodybuilding workout for
traps and biceps.

Entry #114
Internet has been down for the last few days.

Leaving for Los Angeles today. I'll be back Wednesday. The hotel has a weightroom so don't think I'm taking it easy.

George is leaving for camp the same day. He's pretty lucky because
he's a counselor. When we come back, we'll see who got stronger.

"I'll be back."

Entry #113
Benched 225 lbs today. At lift-off I thought "Hmm this isn't that
heavy". I lower it until about an inch above my pecs and bring it
back up. I'm thinking I'll get at least 4 reps by myself. Then my
spotter, Ryan, roars "ALL THE FUCKING WAY DOWN!" Then he smacks it onto
my chest and I gasp for air. Bastard. I manage two reps with it
touching my chest everytime.

This means war.

Just did shadow boxing afterwards. Worked on some flexibility
stretches for kicks, also. My meal plan has been consistent the last
few weeks. Expect to gain a lot of muscle weight soon.

Haha I bench the same weight as Arnold.

Weigh in at 178 lbs today.

Been bulking for about a year now. Still no visible fat development. Bulk pictures for my arms:

Entry #111
Glad that summer is here so I can train by myself without distractions.

I guess I'll allow one cheat day on my training log for today. Went
to a party with George. I ate like a savage. Good bulking meals. Meat
meat and meat. And then for dessert, meat. George and I were talking
about something cool, probably Warhammer or Arnold Schwarzenegger or
something, when "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" comes on the speakers.
George smacks his forehead and says "Argh I hate this."
J.C.: "What, girls just wanna have fun, George."
George: "Well we should convert girls to usable fuel, then."
J.C.: "Why don't you like girls...you two need to get laid."
George: "No."
J.C.: "Well, you can kick ass and get laid at the same time, you know."
Me: "Hey, yeah. Except for the getting laid part."
George:
"Yeah, I'm fine with kicking ass, of course. That sounds like a good
idea right now." Then he grabs my throat and I punch him back in the
chest.

Then we go on the driveway and spar. It was dark so I don't know
what happened. I believe it ended in a draw. I mostly just did boxing.
I was full of meat and didn't have the patience to attempt sidekicks.

He dropped me off and I told I'll see him in Hell. He said he'll be there first. But we'll see.

Listen, next week is summer vacation. Nothing but training, nothing
but getting stronger. So this was off-topic. But don't think I'm gonna
go soft on you guys.

Entry #110
Trained with George at Vasona Park. Utilized kicks exclusively in three
sparring sessions. George is much better in this area than me.
Afterwards practiced alternating sidekicks all the way across the park.
Really tired me out.

Entry #109
Legs are a little better. Still having trouble with stairs. Chest and
tris are sore now from yesterday as well. Will just be doing some
stretching and then nunchaku practice for rehabilitation today, and
then go back tomorrow. I seriously can't even shadow box productively
tonight.

Entry #108
Legs have been sore since Sunday. Having trouble walking, and when I
try a staircase I resemble a cancerous old man. George's first comment
to me this morning at school: "God dammit, you and your squat workouts,
I couldn't go to Tae Kwon Do yesterday because I'm so sore." You're
welcome, George.

I did chest and tris today. I managed 195 pounds with 8 reps pretty
easily on flat bench press. Giant Ryan was spotting me again. He
commented that I'm lifting stronger than last time. Well, he roared it
in my face.

Bench press: 195 pounds, 8, 8, 6, 5, 5 reps

Dumbbell flys: 40 pound dumbbells, 4 sets 8 reps

Incline bench press: 135 pounds,  3 sets 5 reps (Was so tired I
was only able to do 5 reps on what I usually use for warm-up)

Tricep pushdowns: 70 pounds, 4 sets 8 reps

Dips: 3 sets 6 reps

Overhead dumbbell extension: 55 pound dumbbell, 3 sets 8 reps

Entry #107
Legs are dead today. Took it easy. Did some shadow boxing in my room. I couldn't help myself.

I'll hit the weightroom again tomorrow. Until then, stay tough.

Oh, today was George's 18th birthday. We did some sparring but it
was too casual to list as a real fight. Well here you go George, happy
birthday:

I hope you like bullets.

Entry #106
George and I lifted together today, for the first time. According to
him J.C. never makes him train legs, and today just happened to be leg
day on my program, so I decided to introduce George the torture of leg
day.

Squats: 255 pounds, 6 reps

Leg press: 700 pounds, 6-8 reps

Leg extensions: 180 pounds, 6-8 reps

Leg curls: 120 pounds, 8 reps

Calf raises: 270 pounds, 12 reps

Seated calf raises: 205 pounds, 12 reps

I raised the weights on squats, and next time I think I'll go for
265. Having a spotter helped a lot. George didn't go as high as I did,
but that was his first time on squats and I commend him. Had the gym to
ourselves so we didn't hesitate to make some noise. George was having
trouble for his last rep on the leg press machine and he was leaning
forward, so I grabbed his shoulders and slammed him back into the seat,
and called him a wimp. He yelled and then completed it perfectly. The
only way to spot someone, I say.

"Civilize the mind, make savage the body."

Entry #105
At the beach George and I fought a war. As I am writing this I'm
covered in cuts and red marks, along with disjointed fingers and an
injured ankle.

Hmm, let me get some stuff out of the way first. The arcade was
awesome. We played Samurai Shodown (the best), Terminator 2, Metal
Slug 3, Virtua Fighter 4, and some awesome war game where you shoot
things. Then we went on this Haunted House walkthrough. I was hoping
for once I would get scared or something, just to see what it's like,
but no. We walked through a graveyard and all of a sudden a rubber
zombie pops out in front of us and starts screaming. George punched it
in the face. It probably died. The end.

Essentially senior beach day was all-day training for us. We started
out in the morning with a sprint to a group of rocky outcrops over in
the west. I won by a significant margin. After that we jogged over to
the pier and back. Everyone from our class was asking why we weren't
relaxing. A lot of them were smoking, too. This one guy, James, is
someone I thought of as a serious bodybuilder, but not only did he look
tiny, he was smoking with everyone.
George goes up to him: "James, what the hell is this."
Me: "James, if you drink and smoke you'll shrivel up and get weak."
James hangs his head down in shame: "Well, uhhh just something to do, ahh, for fun..."
George: "Well
James, we are disappointed in you guys. And pull up your pants for
God's sake or we'll have to send you home. Young delinquents."

Harsh, but they'll all thank us later.

We fought by a group of cliffs shrouded in fog. Was pretty
cool. Regrettably I am unable to give detailed reports of what
happened because I honestly remember nothing about it. I got kicked in
the head so that might be a contributing factor. It started out
with us on opposite sides of the beach and then charging towards one
another. That was awesome. We always do full-contact bare-knuckle, but
I do know that those were the hardest hits I've ever thrown. Actually
utilized combos, as well. One highlight I can remember was George
backfisting me and I countered it with hook after hook in his
side. I could feel his body crumple and he was yelling. His stand-out
part was when he side-kicked me directly in the head and I stumbled
forward. Fought pretty dizzy the rest of the round. I'm fighting too
much like a brute, taking shots and not bothering to dodge while
powering forward. Maybe it works, but there's probably a better way.
I've really developed a lot more power, maybe due to switching from
bodybuilding to powerlifting?

The first two rounds ended in a tie but the in the third
George hurt his shin on my elbow and he had to stop because he couldn't
stand properly. We ended there. We walked back to where our class was
hanging out, and this girl says "George, were you fighting Hormuz?" She was sunbathing. George replies "Yeah, what are you doing? Lying down and being lazy?" Everyone knows not to get offended at what George says, of course, because that's just how he is, and she laughs.
George: "Let's go practice some kicks, Taylor, you need to do something so you don't get fat."
Her: "Oh my gosh you called me fat?!"
George: "I said you'll get fat if you just lie around doing that all day."
When she gets up George tells her to kick as high as she can, and she goes "HAH you just want to see my underwear!!!"
George: "....... uh Taylor, shut up, now face to the side and kick. Just do it waist-high, if you want." She can't stop giggling so George goes "Okay we're done, you're a terrible student." She just giggles harder and we run away.

We had a one armed push-up contest afterwards but my thumb was
feeling demented after fighting and my knuckles were bloody. I could
only manage 15. George got 18.

Forgot to bring a camera to take pictures. But trust me, it ruled.

Entry #104
Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger was in town a few days ago, I wanted
to go meet him. I wanted to arm wrestle him. Or at least compare our
arms. Who would you guys think would have more muscle? On Friday I'll
hit the weights again.

Tomorrow is beach day and George and I plan to fight on the cliffs. Loser falls off and dies.

Entry #103
At school, George kicked a guy in the chest and sent him to the ground.
The guy was mocking him about being a "tough guy" or something like
that. I believe his exact words were "Ohhh you think you're so tough,
George? Some big tough guy? Oooooh what a macho-man nyeeeehhh", and
then George kicked him. The vice principal took him in his office and
said "So the other guy told me what you did to him, now let's hear YOUR
side of the story."
And George goes "Uh I kicked him in the chest."
Then
the vice-principal laughed and told George his punishment is hard
labour of some sort. To which George replied "Whoa, cool." He invited
me to go, too. Should be fun.

Thursday is Senior Beach Day at school. We have to go to Santa Cruz
and hang out at the beach all day. George and I are going to take this
opportunity to train. Definitely expect a fight then.

Stay strong like Rambo

Entry #102
This is a pointless post. In fact, as I write this I am going insane.
I've been doing homework all day. I'm never going to take a day off
training ever ever ever again. I have so much energy right now I'm
going to break Jared's record of 400 push-ups in a few minutes. I've
just been sitting here doing a comic for homework. It's pretty cool.
Maybe I'll scan it. It's about a guy who goes to work but his office
gets attacked by zombies so he rips off his suit and fights the zombies
with heavy artillery. That includes his fists. One day that will be me.
I'm looking at my arm in the mirror and the entire thing is covered
with huge veins. They're like a roadmap on my arm. I'm going to bench
300 tomorrow, too. BANG BANG BANG

Entry #101
Fight today at school. Was walking to my locker during lunch when all
of a sudden George comes out of nowhere and jump kicks me in the back.
I stumble forward and my backpack was flattened from the impact. This
can only mean war. I rush forward and smash my fist into his solar
plexus. We trade punch combinations and then he side-kicks me in the
chest and we both fall back. Then we go out to lunch.

In PE we were supposed to go swimming but I just sat with Rene on
the bleachers by the pool and talked about training. It turns out that
at the beginning of the school year he only weighed 150 pounds. Now
he's 195. Is he on steroids or something? Wow. We were bored so we
measured our arms and my biceps are 15 inches in diamater. His are
16. This could be a good way to record progress.

I went skateboarding a little after school and then practiced on the
heavy bag. Doing endurance training along with strength program. Did 40
consecutive push-ups. By the end of summer I must reach at least 80.

Not a bad Friday.

Entry #100
Today at school George and I went to the front lawn to check out what
the Marines had set up. There was a giant helium-filled training course
along with a pull-up bar. Everyone was giggling and laughing and
jumping around on the training course, so we immediately went to the
bar. But we couldn't decide who should go first. We settled on a
punching contest: who ever punches the other in the stomach first wins.
We grabbed a random kid to be the judge, and at the count of five
we smashed our fists into each other. I won. George wanted two out of
three so we tried again and I won a second time. Thing is, we hadn't
settled on what that meant. So George just decided to go first. He got
to 14. When it was my turn the Marine told me if I get
to 20 he'll give me a shirt. I tried after and got to
15, but on one I didn't go down all the way so it got counted as 14. I
was kind of disappointed; I asked how many he could do and he said 20.
I held my fist at the Marine and told him I will come back next time
and destroy him in this. Then he shook my hand. I regret not taking any
pictures of this. Wasn't thinking of it at the time. But it was
awesome. Should have them over everyday.

One day I will be the strongest in the world.

Entry #99
Yesterday was a well-spent recuperation day. Today was supposed to be
bench day but I have to post-pone it until tomorrow; it's for a good
cause, though. Taking a driving test. I've never needed to drive
anywhere because this town is so small, I just skateboard everywhere.
But now I can go to the gym and not burn any calories when I'm trying
to bulk. Also, GNC is kind of far so I need a car to pick up N-LARGE
every week. Yes, those are the only reasons I'm getting a license. Heh
not really. But I will lift extra heavy tomorrow. Will try
225 pounds on the bench-press.

George let me drive his car on Saturday. This is us going to the store to pick up some groceries.

Entry #98
Worked with heavier weights today. Squats = 225 pounds. Leg press = 600
pounds. I have to admit I made a lot of noise today. It was a Sunday
night and there wasn't anyone there, anyways. Leg day is the most
painful, I think; I couldn't help but shout a little. It helped me get
the weight up, though. I'm getting closer and closer to Fred "Dr.
Squat" Hatfield and his 1,014 pound squat. Just a matter of time. In
between sets I used the speedbag.

Yesterday I hung out with George but we didn't fight. We did see
Star Wars Ep 3 and after we practiced pull-ups for the pull-up
competition at school next week. Each got to 15. Will practice up more.
It probably isn't a good idea to enter a pull-up contest in the middle
of gaining weight but oh well. Just for fun.

Entry #97
Yesterday was intense. Ryan spotted me. Can easily do 185
pounds at 8-10 reps now, on bench press. Gonna try 205
pounds next time. I was talking to Rene and he benches 295 for 5
reps. Argh I'll get that guy. Competition is good, though.

Haven't posted pics in a while. My progress in mid-bulking phase:

Entry #95
Hah this was funny.

Rene: When you and George fight, do you do headshots?
Me: If we have gloves at the time, yeah.
Rene: What if I fought you with no gloves?
Me: That'd be awesome.
Rene: You'd really do it? What if I had you on the ground and I was beating your face?
Me: Then I'd get my face beat, haha.
Rene:
But like, in sports I get crazy and I keep going. Like in football I go
"RAAAAARGHH YEAH" in the guy's face after tackle. And what if I kept
pounding and pounding your face?
Me: I'd tell you to punch harder, wimp.
Rene: Haha.

That would be cool to spar Rene. I think he's more a straight
bodybuilder, though, not a fighter. As for today, just did rounds of
shadow boxing. Gonna hit the chest exercises tomorrow at the gym.

Entry #94
Productive gym day. Started the powerlifting program over, so I did
squat day today. 205 pounds, 8 reps. Hope to raise that dramatically in
the next few weeks. Also raised the weight on leg press to 550 pounds,
but I feel I can go higher next time.

George came over and we went to the high school football field to
practice pull-ups for the contest. We each can do 15 with proper form,
more if we cheat on the remaining reps and use some body motion. Then
we had a climbing race by going up climbing up the back of
the bleachers. He won but I was wearing skate shoes and I kept
slipping. Afterwards we thought how cool it would be to climb the
stadium light and do pull-ups on the very top. The fear of death would
motivate you to keep going. Sounds like a plan.

Entry #93
George was telling me about a pull-up contest. Marines are coming to
the high-school to host it. I think I'll work for it if I can find
a good schedule to fit in endurance training. Anyways, we watched Clint
Eastwood movies until he had to leave for prom. I called him a wimp and
he shook his fist at me. That's the confirmation for a fight sometime
soon, so looking forward to that. Later I did boxing practice on the
bag for 10 rounds. Definitely need a heavier bag. Mine was flopping all
over the place. It's harder than most others I've tried before, though,
so my knuckles are beat again. Developing a solid hook, which I've
never really practiced before. Afterwards I worked on side-kicks. Total
of training was about 5 hours. Was a very good night, I'd say.
Entry #92
Woke up and realized my back pain was completely gone. Feels great.
Yesterday I was practically a cripple, now I'm better than ever. Been
eating well, especially at breakfast. Just had breakfast along with 4
scoops of N-Large, 1 spoon of flax oil, and a multi-vitamin pill.
Oh, I watched PUNISHER while I was eating, too. Gonna head over to
George's, but I don't think he wants to spar since he has to leave
for prom in a few hours. Wimp. Will update after training, today.

Entry #91
Was suffering minor back-pains from deadlift day, and just when I
figured I was over it, it came back today. In PE we went swimming, and
I was flipping off the high dive when I wrenched my back in the air.
Could barely move after school, so I didn't go lifting. I tried the
punching bag but the impact caused excruciating pain in my trap
muscles, and I didn't want them to explode or anything. Just gonna
do shadow boxing and work on speed. Restarting the powerlifting program
as of Sunday because last week was messed up.
Tomorrow is prom,
I'm gonna spend the day boxing. Might go to the park and practice
pull-ups on this tree I know. I love my life.

Entry #90
I had a dream that I was doing incline bench pressing. Rep after rep of
benching. That's it. Then I woke up. Good way to start the day. Didn't
do weights; was sore from the dream (just kidding on
that one). 8 rounds on the bag. Knuckles are in pain right
now. Cut open my thumb as well, and this was all with gloves. I think I
need a heavier bag, though. Current one is 70 pounds and it swings
around too much.

Random, other good dreams I've had:
> I was Rambo and was killing wave after wave of enemies, and I died at the end.
>
I was getting beat up by two of my classmates who are on the wrestling
team and football team, one was holding me and the other was
punching, but I was fighting back.
> Missile was heading for me and my death was inevitable, so I punched it.

Ah, that put me in a good mood.

Entry #89
Was looking at my program and I realized I did it wrong, I was supposed
to do chest day yesterday, not deadlifts. Tomorrow was supposed to be
deadlift day. Today I was sore all over, just practiced some rounds on
the bag. Felt like my trap muscles were ripping apart on every
punch. I called it a day after just a few rounds. Gonna rest up and hit
the weights tomorrow again.

Look at Ali, training in the water XD

Entry #88
Powerlifting is boring. Four minutes rest is too long. Compared to
bodybuilding, however, this is actually harder because the weight is so
much heavier. Before it was intense because the rest was only one
minute, but the weight was nothing, really. Interestingly enough,
the pain is different, too. Before it was sharp and more
concentrated. Now it's like a dull pain spread out in my
entire upper arm/back. But I actually like this better. Today was:

Deadlifts - 3 sets 8 reps
Barbell shrugs - 4 sets 10 reps
Bent over rows - 4 sets 10, 8, 6, 6 reps
Seated rows - 3 sets 8 reps
Pulldowns in front - 3 sets 8 reps
One arm dumbbell rows - 3 sets 8 reps

For some reason I've never seen anyone else in my gym do deadlifts.

Did a few rounds on the heavy bag. Combinations are getting more
fluid. I used to just swing single heavy punches. I'm gonna utilize
these next time I go against George.

Monday, May 9, 2005

Entry #87
First day of new program. I did:
Squats - 3 sets, 8 reps
Leg Press - 4 sets 10, 8, 6, 6 reps
Wide stance smith squat - 3 sets 6 reps
Leg extension - 3 sets 10 reps
Leg curl - 3 sets 10 reps

Took three to four minute rests in between sets, compared to
before when I only waited one minute. Consequently I was able
to keep my reps constant on the final sets due to
the longer rest. Still, it's not so different from my old bodybuilding
routine so far. At least for legs.

Boxing practice on the bag was only three rounds. Felt like my legs
were gonna collapse. I practiced strong hooks. In all my fights, be it
boxing or mixed martial arts, I've never attempted a solid hook. I
worked it into the final attack in some combinations.

Entry #86
My muscles around the groin area are kind of sore. I took a break from
kicking and just did boxing practice on the bag. Five rounds, three
minutes each, one minute rest in between. Getting much more proficient
at combinations. I also practiced on good, fast jabs. I was kinda
impressed by this Muhammad Ali fight they had on ESPN today, haha. Ali
versus Chuvero. He never seemed to suffer from fatigue, all the way up
to the 15th round. His punches never slowed down. His jabs looked like
they took no effort to move that fast.

I have my new powerlifting routine all set-up, and I'm gonna start tomorrow: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/david3.htm
Yes, it's on a bodybuilding site, but they have some good powerlifters on there too.

Also, to continue my bad habit of going off-topic: this is my favorite comic ever.

Entry #85
George came over, but there was no sparring match. I'll be sure to make
that the first thing we do next time. Wasn't in top shape today,
anyways. Yesterday during basketball, when I grabbed the rim I pulled a
muscle in my forearm as I was hanging on. Couldn't close my hand in all
the way to make a fist. It's better now, though.

Changing to a more strength-oriented lifting program starting Monday. Still constructing the schedule.

Friday, May 6, 2005

Entry #84
Cardio day, essentially. Played basketball four hours after
school. Managed to grab the rim three times. Afterwards we were fooling
around the courts and the kids asked me to teach them some boxing
stuff. Did a lot of exercises, actually. Also practiced kicks; I had
them sidekick me as hard as they could. Also did a goofy little
practice where one guy holds a marker, and pretends it's a knife, and
the other attempts to disarm him. If a mark is left on the arm, that
means they were stabbed, and they would be injured in a real situation,
so they lose. I managed to rush in and grab my opponent's arm,
twist it around, and begin the process of breaking it by the joint. The
verdict: I can't wait until I meet a knife-wielding thug on the
streets. Heh seriously, it was mostly just for fun, but I got some good
kicking practice in today through that. I managed to teach them some
discipline, too. The dance team was practicing next room in their
outfits, and all the guys would go by the door and watch through the
glass pane, and make whistling noises at them. I took this injured
kid's crutches, pointed it at them like a machine gun, and told them
"The Terminator doesn't look at girls. Neither should you." I
sure showed them.

Need to eat more. Been skipping meals all this week. I'm kind of a
perfectionist and I'm a lot more intent on getting all my meals in on
gym days; otherwise I tend to get lazy and skip some. It's like, either
go to the gym and eat a perfect 8 meals a day, or don't go to the gym
and slack off on eating. I need to stop that way of thinking.

May get to fight George tomorrow, depending on whether he's game or
not. We will see. Also, hopefully in summer without school there won't
be as many stories to tell so I won't go off-topic so much. But then
I'll probably be doing more stuff with George, and that'll make it
worse...

Wednesday, May 4, 2005

Entry #83
Just to stray off-topic, which I do not like doing, but I feel is
necessary to so my head is more clear when I do train. Been distracted
at the gym before and it was a big waste of time in terms of
efficiency. I'd sit there and think about stuff before I realized that
6 minutes had gone by, when I was supposed to wait for only 1 minute.
So today George got a date to prom. Was the last day to purchase
tickets. Looks like I'm not going. Was actually feeling depressed and I
don't know why. Depression always means anger, mostly for me. I was mad
at George even. I was mad at everyone. I was mad at my locker, too; I
punched it, and made a huge dent in it. It looked awesome, like it was
a form of identification for me. Then I felt better. And then I
realized that punching makes me happier than going to prom would,
happier than anything would. So it's good now.

Entry #82
I'm making an entry early in the morning before school to vent out some
frustrations. Total of 4 hours of sleep, and I woke up late with no
time for usual breakfast, which takes an approximately an hour to
consume. Gonna post-pone lifting until tomorrow when I'm more in the
game and have more rest. Did a total of 16 one-handed push-ups on each
arm to wake me up.

"HHHHAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH."

I feel better already.

Didn't get to see George on the weekend. Better be one hell of a fight
this Saturday to make up for it. Anxious to hit the weights tomorrow.
Haven't eaten well today, and didn't get 8 hours of sleep. Today,
breakfast was huge, but the rest of my meals were lacking. Went on a
run to Lexington yesterday, and my cardio is through the roof, oddly
enough. Went the entire way without breaking a sweat. It's
weird because I'm bulking and I don't do much cardio. But I'm not
complaining.

Entry #80
Yesterday was mostly cardio, unfortunately. Didn't help with gaining
weight, but I had fun nevertheless. Played basketball for 7 hours
after school. Was at school, not at the gym (so no giant Ryan to tackle
me).

Fight is post-poned until tomorrow. Took the opportunity to practice
more. Flexibility is improving. Primarily worked on side-kicks. Have
the height down, but I need to work on speed and power more.

Entry #79
Mostly did boxing training today. Practiced combinations. I've realized
that in matches I give it my all in the first round, and after that I'm
tired. That's why I lost the fight with Marty in September. Well, and
my braces ripping up my mouth, but that's no excuse. I should try
wearing out the opponent for a few rounds, and not waste energy.
Afterwards, did 15 one-handed push-ups. But I can only get up to 8 on
my left arm. Improving faster than expected, however.

PE was hilarious today. The teacher brought out pogo-sticks,
hula-hoops, and jump-ropes. I just used the jump-rope at first, which
is something I should get for home-use to practice good footwork. After
a bit Rene brought out a medicine ball and we took turns throwing it as
hard as we could at each other, and the first person to drop it would
lose. Was pretty tiring, actually. We had a crowd around us after a
bit. No one lost, though.

Fight with George on Saturday. And possible throwdown next weekend.

Entry #78
Having trouble finding words to describe my feelings at the gym today. Best I can do is:

"AAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH."

Did legs today. Squats hurt. Noticeable size increase in calves.

Saturday was pretty funny. George rang the doorbell, I opened the
door and say in my deepest voice "What the hell do you want." He
responds "I want you." Then he grabs my neck and pulls me out. I
upper-cut his chin and he comes back with a sidekick to the chest. I
counter it with a combination to his front and he does the same. I
catch him with a strong punch to the stomach that sends him reeling
back. Then we go inside and play videogames. The only way to greet a
friend, I say. More serious fight next week, I promise.

Entry #77
Did shoulders today and I mixed everything up in order to encourage
more stress and growth. Entire upper body is sore. Tried super-sets on
abs for the first time. Managed to finish my N-Large in record time for
breakfast. Very difficult to finish that drink; with milk it has 1,000
calories. And I took that directly after breakfast. With it I plan on
getting to a lean 200lbs by summer vacation. But I think breakfast is
the hardest part, harder than lifting even. Breakfast today: 1 bowl of
Total cereal, 8 egg whites, 4 slices of wheat toast, fruit, 1 serving
of N-Large.

Reconsidering about not going to prom. George made it
sound kind of good. He said we don't have to do any dancing
or anything at all; we can go crazy on all the food, and spar
everynight. Fighting in a tux would be pretty cool. Eating tons of
food and fighting? Sounds like good training to me. We'll see.

Tomorrow should be another fight in the park with George. Veins are pumped already.

Entry #76
Officially 175 pounds as of today, which is 15 pounds more than when I
last weighed myself months ago and 5 pounds more than I estimated when
people would ask. None of it is fat. Maybe not that impressive but I've
always been way too light for my liking so it's cool for me. Few
years ago I was 130; I hated that.

Didn't get to do any striking practice today. Good thing tomorrow is
Friday. Punching bag 'till midnight? Sounds good to me. Back to eating
8 large meals a day. Weightlifting was chest and triceps. I added more
super-sets to 1.) Up the intensity and 2.) allow me to get more work
done in a lesser amount of time, which in turn is also increasing
intensity. But are all these super-sets conductive to strength training
and martial arts? Routine is still changing.

Show up at my house for midnight training session tomorrow. Yeah, I mean you.

Entry #75
Not much training after the weekend so far. Tons of homework, and I
need to make grades a priority . . . so I can go to UC San Diego
and move there and attend the Black Tiger muay thai dojo, of course.
Also, today I was looking through a magazine and they have San Diego as
#8 on top schools in the U.S. with the best gym. Pretty cool. George
says the bad thing is it's notorious for being a party school, but it
won't affect me.

I have to focus more on diet on non-lifting days. Only ate 5
moderate meals today; need to eat like a savage tomorrow. Very anxious
to get back in the gym. I'm gonna be ferocious on the weights next
time.

Entry #74
Weekend was a good break. Lower back is still sore from deadlifts on
Friday. My tub of N-Large is already finished. 10lb case gone in a
week. This is gonna get expensive.

Fought George in a new park last night. I was completely out of it.
Had the wind knocked out of me in all three rounds. In my defense I was
very sore from the heavy lifting all week, especially in my back.
Still, no excuse. I'll get him next time.

Before the fight we were watching some UFC dvds at my house.
George blames my poor performance on the Tito Ortiz vs. Patrick
Cote fight. Patrick danced around looking like a goblin,
his fat rolling over his blue tighties. Tito mounted him and gave him
elbows in the face for four minutes before the round was over. It
wouldn't have been so embarassing had Patrick not said before the fight
"If you thought Chuck Liddell hit hard, wait 'till you see me. Tito's
spirit is broken after his losses ... I'm going to kick his ass." I
guess his strategy was to break Tito's elbow by letting Tito nail him
in the face over and over. Yeah, shouldn't have watched that before the
sparring match.

"Your spirit is broken. Now is the time
to diie ...What? Hey, don't laugh ... blubber is very warm,
in wintertime ... Nyehh I'm gonna kill you ..."

1 minute later...

"OOF ummm this is exactly what I was planning ... your elbow won't last forever ..."

1 minute later...

"Mom ... just 5 more minutes, mom ..."

Entry #73
Going to post my meal tomorrow so I can get a calorie count for the
day. Hope to have it around 5,000. I have also declined from going Los
Angeles to stay and train here. I didn't want to go to
Universal Studios anyways; I've been sore at them ever since last time
I went on their Jurassic Park ride and there was no T-Rex killing
something. This N-Large2 is working great. Adds a ton of calories. Hope
to gain a lot soon.

Entry #72
Paid a visit to GNC and picked up a 10lb case of N-Large2 (chocolate
flavor!), multivitamin capsules, and flax seed oil. I should gain good
weight off this, but I'm still debating whether to take creatine or
not. My mom was freaking out thinking that I was buying steroids but I
explained what they were so it's good now.

"What is this!" she yells looking at the N-Large vat. "You bought
steroids?!" "No mom, it's just protein with a bunch of weight-gaining
stuff." "What about these!" she says looking at the vitamins. "These
are steroids!" "Those are just vitamins, read the ingredients." "Well
you're still overdoing it, we don't want to look disgusting and veiny
like Arnold now!" "Yes we do mom." Haha.

I did chest and triceps today and my arms are so sore that I
honestly feel any striking practice I do will just be detrimental in
the long run; my form and power would be terrible if I tried right now.
I instead took this opportunity to practice kicks. At the gym I kept
the session under an hour but with increased intensity with 1.) Shorter
rest time between sets and 2.) supersets for chest. Supersets =
torture. Love it.

Entry #71
Really been slacking off on eating, especially this past week. Tonight
I went to the store. Steak, eggs, chicken pot pies, beef jerky for
snacks, and cottage cheese for before bed. I'm loaded. Tomorrow I plan
on going to GNC for some supplements. So my future diet is looking
good. Must eat 8 meals a day, maybe even 9, and at least 4,000 calories
-- maybe even 5,000.

Entry #70
Basketball all day today. After school I played Carlos, Alexi,
and Jean (wow, what a group) in the school gym. I did so much
jumping I had massive cramps in my calves after a bit. I was jumping to
grab the rim and all of a sudden my leg muscles feel like they
exploded. Also, Carlos wanted me to hold my hand out and give him a
boost so he could reach up and grab the ball when was it was stuck in
the overhang. Instead I reach down to his legs and throw him up
practically, but he kicked me accidentally in the groin. I had to
work with cramped up legs and sore groin. Good training, I say. When we
were taking a break these girls who were watching wanted to know how to
do a kick-up so I showed them. And then I showed Carlos how to do
one-handed push-ups. I was able to do 12, but he couldn't do any yet.
He wants me to train him in boxing, so that should be interesting.

Tomorrow should be another good fighting day with George. Hopefully I'll check out the muay thai school on Sunday.

Entry #69
I'm going to change my routine completely to include more supersets.
Also plan on going to Vitasport this weekend for some supplements.
Next week for spring break my dad and I are going to Los Angeles
to see some of his buddies. I'll have to find some way to train in the
hotel. I wonder if they'd allow me to hang my punching bag in the room?
I'll definitely bring my board and go skating by Huntington beach. I
found an interesting way to record my progress -- I tried on my
wristguards and elbow pads from a year ago and they wouldn't fit
my arms at all. I have to buy new ones if I want to go to a skatepark
but on the other hand it's pretty cool.

              And
I secluded myself away from friends, away from girls, away from
pleasure; all that mattered was rippling muscle and torturous training.
Iron was all I knew.

Entry #68
Intense as hell today (chest, tris, abs). Noticed my chest is much
thicker in the last few months. Thinking about bringing a
small notepad and a pen next time I lift. During exercises I'll
often have a question or two in the back of my head about it and I make
a mental note to research it at home, and then later I forget. I'll
look like a big dork, but oh well. If I write fast I should still have
45 seconds for a stretch between sets (1 minute break in total between
each set).

As for actual fighting, decided not to use shin guards next time.
Not that we did before, but my shin got destroyed on Saturday and
that's what I suggested. Instead I've decided to build on my weakness
and spend time conditioning my shins on the punching bag. (Haha next is
my head! I'll train by headbutting a brick wall 1,000 times
everyday. Then I can headbutt thugs and kill them.)

Entry #67
Fight today with George: took place at Vasona Park this time. Focused
on attacking more; I started off immediately with a side-kick which he
blocked but was nevertheless an improvement over previous efforts. Few
minutes into the match I dropped him because he got hit in the groin.
Sucked. I say I lost that one. After he recovered I attempted more
kicks only to get my shin destroyed. I had to stop after a bit because
of it.

Second round we decided to do all punches so I could lay off kicking
with my shin. I was dominating in this one; boxing is my specialty. I
took the offensive and kept coming forward absorbing everything he
threw, while pummeling him with my own and knocking him back. I
honestly didn't feel anything, until the very end when he knocked the
wind out of me with one in the stomach. Very disappointing to be
winning and then to go down with one punch because of laziness. If
anything this taught me to not get relaxed and let my guard down.

I need to condition my shins so I don't have to stop in the middle
of a fight because I can't stand. I'll be using them on the hard part
of my punching bag for the next week until the next match. Also tried
one-handed push-ups and I was able to do 11. Improvement over a few
weeks ago when I could only do 4.

Entry #66
Lifted for shoulders and abs. Focused on lifting with more
explosiveness, particularly on military press. Noticing definite
increase in size and width around my shoulders. At home I practiced in
the backyard. Only one round of boxing on the bag. Mostly did
side-kicks and I'm getting much better in both flexibility and speed. I
feel I can make these work next sparring match.

Afterwards I watched Predator on TV. You should, too.
